Spurred by her inclination towards spirituality and philosophy, Vera started yoga in 2000. Frank started growing in the Swiss Alps, then Zurich, New York and San Francisco. He lived in Vancouver, Canada, for 10 years. Stephen is a senior international yoga teacher. He leads Teacher Trainings, Workshops and Immersions across Asia and Europe. His teaching is deeply rooted in the traditional Yoga practices of asana, pranayama, and meditation. His philosophical background is influenced by studies in the Classical systems of Yoga Philosophy as well as Tibetan Buddhism and Tantra, enriching and informing his personal approach. Stephen presents Yoga in its’ classical form, directly from lineage. In his teaching, he encourages a synthesis of physical effort (asana, cleansing kriyas, pranayama, etc.), with the study of sanskrit, chanting, meditation and devotion. Integrating these deep practices into the daily spectrum of one’s life is a central theme of his work. Stephen studies directly with O.P. Tiwari of Kaivalyadham, India and continues to evolve his knowledge in the fields of pranayama, therapy, healing, and Ayurveda. This lineage is one of the few living sources of authentic pranayama available. He has completed Advanced Pranayama Studies with Tiwari and continues to dedicate his personal practice and work to promoting health and transformation through this method of yoga. He has also undertaken a 3-year study of Yoga Philosophy with the scholar and author, Georg Feuerstein. The asana component of stephen’s teaching is used as a way to purify and stabilize the system, and to re-integrate the mind/body/spirit complex. Through the asana, the joy of the body and breath are re-discovered and a gateway into the deeper realms of the practice is revealed. His asana studies form a major part of his teaching and have been influenced by the alignment principals of Iyengar, and the transformational elements of the Ashtanga Vinyasa system. Stephen embodies the spirit of joy, respect and deep gratitude for those who have influenced him over the years, including, Sri.K. Patthabi Jois, B.K.S. Iyengar, Richard Freeman, Aadil Palkhivala, Paul Dallaghan and Patrick Creelman. Stephen teaches in English. You will find more information on Stephen Thomas under stephenthomasyoga.com

Susanna worked in the health and travel business, before she discovered Astanga Vinyasa Yoga in Fuerteventura in 1997. She proceeded to take a two months intensive teacher training with Nancy Gilgoff in Maui. In the period of 1999 to 2005, Susanna was teaching yoga with Bruno Dietziker in Zurich. She continued her studies with Lino Miele, Luisa Sears, Sharon Gannon, David Life, Stephen Thomas, and Katchie Ananda and by attending various workshops and teacher trainings. In 2007 Susanna completed her three-year training in yoga therapy with Remo Rittiner in Zurich. This was then followed by some additional training with Doug Keller. Yoga therapy is a holistic approach, integrating body, breath and mind to recover a state of equilibrium. Its emphasis lies on personal and individual assistance for persons with chronic pain or ailments (such as back, shoulder or neck pain, asthma and the like). It is with great care that Susanna includes her therapeutic approach into all of her classes. Since 2007, Susanna has been a member of IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists) and of the Swiss Yoga Association Health Insurance. She teaches her classes in German; her private lessons also in English.

In 1996 Michael was introduced to the tradition of Yoga in Pushkar, India, by Yogi Shyamlal. Over the years he was inspired by many different styles of yoga and various teachers. Teachers such as Doug Keller, Mansoor, Katchie Ananda and John Friend have been particularly important inspirations on his path. Michael leads workshops in Switzerland and abroad, also in cooperation with his wife Lina ( yogaloft.ch). Moreover, he teaches alignment, teaching methodology, and meditation in the 200-hour teacher training program at AIRYOGA Zurich for many years. Michael teaches from the heart and with body and soul. He combines the universal principles of alignment with his long experience as a zen-student of the Lassall-Glassman zen lineage. The unveiling of the soul of yoga, which makes every practice eventually blossom, is what distinguishes Michael's passion. Yoga is able to guide us to the source, to our inner strength and beauty, as a starting point to express ourselves. Every asana thus becomes an artistic expression of the heart and combines precision, balance and deep emotion. Besides teaching every one of his classes with payable passion, Michael successfully works as a product and exhibition designer ( 2ndwest.ch) and is the father of two children. He teaches his classes in German and English. For more information please also check out www.michaelthurnherr.ch

After completing his studies in Environmental Science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Adrian lived for one year in Vancouver, Canada. It was there he was first introduced to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Vipassana Meditation in 2002. In the following years Adrian's Yoga practice consisted in the regular practice of the Primary Series. Due to deep experiences with Vipassana meditation and with teacher plants, spirituality and self-transformation began to take a more important role in Adrian’s life. This led him to travel to India, where he spent one year teaching Tibetan monks chemistry and biology, practicing asana on the roof of the Buddhist monastery, and diving deeper into eastern spiritual teachings. Currently his main focus is with Indo-Tibetan Buddhist Meditation. Adrian completed his Yoga teacher training with Remo Rittiner in Zurich. Adrian’s classes follow the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya, and are tailored to the student's needs. Dynamic Vinyasa Flow yoga, as well as gentle Ayur Yoga, fit perfectly well into his teaching repertoire. He is using elements like chanting, Yoga-Nidra or simple visualisations in his classes. During one of her journeys to the Far East in 1999, Tanja discovered and learned to appreciate Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Yoga has led her to find answers to the many questions she has encountered in her personal life journey – answers that lay hidden deep within herself. Tanja attended a yoga teacher training program in 2004 at Centered Yoga in Asia, where she received certification as a yoga instructor recognized by the Yoga Alliance. Additionally she attended the pregnancy yoga teacher course at Birthlight UK. At the end of 2008 Tanja was blessed with the experience of having a child. She is constantly reminded how much strength, self/-trust and the necessary physical and mental relaxation that Yoga gives. To deepen her own practice on the mat, Tanja regularly attends retreats, and training with internationally recognized teachers, among them Sri K. Pattabhi Jois † 2009, Sharath Rangaswamy, Paul Dallaghan, Gabriella Pascoli and Lino Miele. She deepens her spiritual practice through the challenges of everyday life and especially thru stays in the ashram in northern India. Tanja teaches in German and English.

Fabian, even as a child, loved movement. After first training as a landscaper and after his education to become a social worker, he studied dance for three years at the SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance). After graduation, he stayed on as a teacher. In 2003, his passion for dancing eventually brought Fabian to yoga. From the get-go, he was stoked. As he ventured back to Switzerland, Fabian began to get deeper and deeper into yoga. In Stephen Thomas he found the teacher who introduced him to yoga philosophy as well as to the traditional practices of asana, pranayama and meditation. Fabians Hatha yoga classes are influenced by different movement languages from contemporary dance. He pays great attention to the best possible anatomical alignment for the body, adapting it to the individual abilities of the practitioner. His classes are also meant to be a journey through the inner body – so practitioners can get to know their own body, can silence their ongoing thoughts and can awaken all the cells within the body. Another focus is set onto the heart – for one, to be more attentive towards one’s own emotional universe, but also, to cultivate happiness and love towards oneself and others. Fabian teaches in German and English.

Manuela worked fulltime as a psychiatric nurse before completing her first Yoga teacher training at Airyoga in her hometown of Zurich in 2008. In Yoga she found the tools and a platform for expressing the beauty of a spiritual life, which satisfied a lifelong desire. With her husband, Stephen Thomas, she has explored deeper and deeper into the yoga practices. Karin has lived on four different continents over the past two decades; today she lives with her family near Biel. Her Yoga began precisely when she was 'secretly' yearning for something 'new' in her life, when she realized she was no longer content with her usual worldly experiences, sensual pleasures and her material success. Zuzia took her first yoga class in 2005. Until that day, she had officially hated any kind of physical exercise. From yoga, she was hoping to obtain even more relaxation than she thought she already had. She turned out to be wrong. Ever since then, Zuzia has been practicing yoga intensively. The first few years were a real ordeal, but the physical, mental and emotional benefits she experienced were definitely worth the pain. In 2011, Zuzia graduated from the AIRYOGA 200h teacher training in Zurich. Since 2012, she has been continuing her studies at the Yogakademie (Doris Echlin/Lucerne). In her teaching, Zuzia is trying to get across what yoga means to her. Her classes are versatile, accessible for beginners and in touch with every day life. Zuzia can easily relate to the students that initially struggle with their yoga practice (blocks, belts and blankets are our best friends!). Zuzia teaches in German and English.
