Radiant Wisdom of the Heart – A Workshop with Evelyn Hunger
The heart is a place of inspiration, inner wisdom, a nourishing source of supportive and healing power and an infinite energy, that carries us through life. This place is always available for us; however, we sometimes lose access to it. Caught up in the demands of our daily life, the voice of responsibility often overrides the softer voice of the heart. Recurring thoughts that attempt to modify our speech and behaviors and force us to compete with others turn us away from the power of the heart and limit us in these moments and life stages. Consequently, the inner place of home feels strange, cold, constrictive and lonely. Qualities of “Faith and Confidence, Determination, Courage, Clarity and Peace” are the Inner Truths of Buddhism, and are key to finding the connection to the heart space again.
The wisdom of the Buddhist teachings will serve as our foundation in this afternoon workshop, so that we can be reminded of their helpful qualities in our spiritual practice as well as in our daily lives. This philosophical foundation will be supplemented by Tantric core elements, in order to recognize that everything is ready and available in the abundance of our bodies. When we allow our bodies and breath to flow through asanas in a way that reconnects us to this quality of the heart, we find faith, courage, clarity and awareness in direct experience. These moments of deep connection strengthen our trust in our own capacity to possess these healing qualities. This trust is nourished by the repeated experience of them, as well as through the understanding of our own depths as revealed through our own determination and clarity.
Evelyn Hunger came into contact first with yoga, and a bit later with Ayurveda, on one of her regular journeys to India. Her fascination was so powerful that she has immersed herself since that time with their shared philosophical system and practice. Various Yoga Teacher Trainings, with Stephen Thomas as main teacher, as well as her daily personal practice help her to gain a deeper insight and understanding, to integrate this into her daily life, and in so doing relating to life in an honest, compassionate and enjoyable manner. She holds the diploma of Ayurvedic Specialist and complemented this study with a practical training over several months in an Ayurvedic clinic in South India. Her knowledge as a medical nurse in the emergency ward is an important link for her to be able to work in a holistic way. The deepening of her practice in meditation and mindfulness techniques of the Buddhist tradition, especially the integration of philosophical approaches from Tibetan Buddhism and Tantra, make up the foundation of her daily practice and reward her with fulfillment and joy in her life. Retreating regularly for times of intense practice is an important step for her on her path of self-discovery and the blossoming of the heart.
Her love for sports connects Evelyn as often a possible with stays out in Nature. This is a place of relaxation as well as a source of infinite inspiration and direct experience. Her teaching is characterized by her fondness for movement, all the while offering her students the possibility to relax and trust their own personal experience.

Evelyn Hunger will reach this workshop on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 2:30pm to 5:30pm
at AIRYOGA, Oberdorfstrasse 2 in 8001 Zurich.
Following a short theoretical introduction about the inner senses and how these can be expressed and directly experienced through the body, we will dive into a dynamic and powerful asana practice, comprised of standing and balancing poses, as well as arm balances and abdominal exercises. When coupled with deep breathing, this activates warming sun energy while embodying inner and outer strengths of courage, determination and power. Through the rhythm and movements we can discover a deep inner awareness and trust.
Afterwards we will slow down the practice and move through gentle hip openers, forward bends and inversions, allowing us to glide into feelings of rest, balance and contentment. We will infuse this sequence with the rhythm of love and an inner attention that will awaken qualities of deep rest and clarity, possibly offering us insight as well as stimulating the voice of the heart to sing.
We will experience the cooling and nourishing energy of the moon with breath exercises and flow into the stillness of being with an appropriate Mudra.
This workshop is suitable for yoga practitioners of all levels and traditions and invites you to experience your practice in a new way, with a curious mind and heart. Practicing in this way can provide fresh inspiration, should there be occasional doubt about the sense of the exercises on the mat.
