Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) – A Course with Sabine Glück
Mindfulness is a mental skill to bring the awareness to the present moment. To connect with bodily sensations, thoughts and emotions in order to see them clearly and free of judgment. The practice of mindfulness helps us to pause, introspect and to meet the challenges of life with more understanding, calm, clarity and acceptance.
Prof. Jon Kabat-Zinn developed the MBSR 8-weeks course in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts, USA. Today, this training in mindfulness is taught worldwide in clinics and health centers, educational and social institutions, as well as in corporate environments. The positive effect of mindfulness training on psychiatric, psychosomatic and stress related illnesses have been supported by an abundance of scientific research. Mindfulness training has not only been successfully taught within a medical context, but “healthy” participants of this course have also reported increased physical and psychological well being and an improved ability to cope with stress.
In this MBSR 8-weeks course we will learn how to develop more mindfulness through guided meditation and gentle yoga postures. In the weekly meetings and one full retreat day we practice together, exchange our experiences in the group, and discuss topics such as stress, mindful communication and self-care.
The course is suited for people who
• experience stress
• feel burnt out or want to protect themselves from it
• suffer from acute and chronic illness or pain
• suffer from insomnia or other psychosomatic illness
• desire more serenity in their life
• would like to live more consciously
and who are willing to work to achieve change, and who are open to self-exploration.
