The Three Imperatives & Four Workshops with Max Strom
Don't miss the chance to learn from one of today’s foremost teachers of wellness, finding meaning in the digital age, and breath-based movement.
Born with severe clubbed feet, Max Strom spent much of the first six years of his life with his feet confined in plaster casts and braces. Today, he is known for inspiring and impacting the lives of people from all walks of life, teaching personal transformation and Inner Axis yoga worldwide. His method addresses the internal, and emotional aspects of our life, as well as physical healing. He has taught tens of thousands of students, trained several hundred teachers. Many know him for his two inspiring books: A Life Worth Breathing, published in five languages and used as required reading in many yoga trainings, and, There is No APP for Happiness, addressing the challenge of finding meaning in the digital age. A dynamic speaker, Max has presented three TEDx events, a keynote speech on ethics at the Lu Lu Lemon global management conference, and keynote addresses at wellness conferences, corporate conferences, and many yoga festivals. Most recently he presented at the first Wellness Symposium in Saudi Arabia, and the prestigious World Government Summit in Dubai. His TEDx talk, Breathe to Heal, is one of the most viewed talks on breathwork in history. Max is recognized by both the Yoga Alliance US and UK at their Advanced Teacher Level (ERYT 500). Max Strom will lead these workshops from Friday, August 31, through Sunday, September 2, 2018 at AIRYOGA, Fabrikstrasse 10 in 8005 Zurich.
Friday, August 31, 2018 from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, and from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm: The Three Imperatives
Technology has expanded at such a rate that nearly every aspect of our world has been affected - yet there has been no corresponding expansion of personal happiness. Instead, we find that the wealthiest societies of the world have become depressed, anxious, sleep deprived, and over-medicated. At the deepest levels of human fulfillment, it seems that we grossly overestimate what technology can do for us. In response, this special workshop reveals an internal, human technology capable of empowering the most meaningful areas of our lives and leading us to deeper levels of happiness.
We will explore the essential elements of The Three Imperatives, a transformational and healing practice that Max Strom is so highly regarded for and can accelerate change from the inside out.
• The Imperative of Self-Study
• The Imperative of Lifespan Management
• The Imperative of Healing and Transformation
The morning will consist of a lecture followed by a full practice of breath initiated movement and yoga postures. The afternoon will go more deeply into the essential elements Max Strom works with, such as:
• Transformational Breathing
• The Beginning of Emotional Healing
• Dynamic Meditation
• Wisdom Beyond the Mat
• Lifespan tools
• Writing and discussion
All levels are welcome
Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am: Opening the body - and finding your Emotions
This movement-based workshop begins very gently and then builds momentum. At the apex we move directly into a special sequence of postures that opens the internal body that induces an emotional sense of release, brings the mind into stillness, and the body into a new state of energy. This class is both challenging and very healing. Open to all levels.
Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm: A Sustainable Life - Will You Survive Your Success?
Let’s assume you achieve all of your professional goals, and then you do a cost-benefit analysis of your achieved goals vs. the cost to your emotional and physical health, what will be the return on investment?
This workshop deals directly with the modern plague of sleeplessness, stress, and anxiety that we have created ourselves. It will help you re-think and recalibrate your priorities and give you knowledge to take home with you to help you to live and work with more vitality and ease, and sleep better at night.
The workshop begins with a lecture, and then moves into a gentle sequence of postures and breath-based movement that immediately trigger deep relaxation and focus. Simple, powerful, accessible.
Lecture, breathing patterns, and gentle movement. Wear loose comfortable clothing. Bring writing materials. All levels are welcome.
Sunday, September 2, 2018 from 8:30 am to 10:30 am: Learn to Breathe, to Heal Yourself and Your Relationships
How does the way we breathe affect our stress level, anxiety, quality of sleep, and even our relationships? Breath penetrates, breath invigorates, and breath heals. The effect of Max’s breath work can lead to profound release and calm. Other benefits may include increased energy and mental clarity. This works so quickly and effectively that Max has successfully brought his unique breathing program into the corporate world.
This class will include a lecture, simple but high impact breathing exercises; very gentle breath-initiated movement, and guided meditation. Appropriate for all levels.
Sunday, September 2, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm: The Art of Teaching Yoga from a Universal Platform
Today telling someone who you just met that you are a yoga teacher could be as much of a liability as something worthy of admiration. And this is because the modern yoga world has adopted a pop culture that has reached the global media, mostly due to the scandals of charismatic narcissists dressed in lycra. Perhaps it is time that we all take the second and third look at what we are doing, and why we are doing it. Are we really creating an environment that welcomes people of all religions, atheists, and even cynics? Would soldiers, police officers, and your own mother feel comfortable in your class?
The capacity for transformation is present in each of us. In this teacher's intensive you will learn how to guide ordinary people to experience extraordinary healing and transformation from a universal platform, meaning it is inclusive as opposed to exclusive. Whether or not the student has a stiff body or a rigid schedule, this intensive will offer an approach to yoga postures; breathing, meditation, and ethical living that will help others to access healing and transformation within their practice.
1. Teaching and communication from a universal platform
2. Principles of minimalist Hands-on Adjustments and Hands-off Adjustments
3. Breath/energy cultivation for beginners and those with anxiety
4. How to introduce meditation and stillness to people with hyperactive minds
