West Coast Yoga Retreat with Stefanie Zimmermann Castson
Tofino is a picturesque, laidback fishing town on Vancouver Island on Canada’s West Coast. The area hosts wild and untouched natural landscapes with rivers, lakes and bays, long sandy beaches and rainforests with ancient, huge trees. Surfers, hikers and nature lovers will find their paradise here.
We will stay at the Ecolodge situated in the heart of the Botanical Gardens in Tofino. In the morning, we welcome the day with pranayama or meditation on the beach. Afterwards, in the yoga room of the lodge, Stefanie Zimmermann Castson will guide us through a well-rounded asana practice that aligns the mind, body and breath. In the afternoon you are free to join our guided nature and environmental related adventures with local specialists or to arrange your free time according to your needs. Your very own beach cruiser will take you along the bike paths to beaches, sightseeing, hikes and places for exploration.
Tofino is part of the Clayoquot Sound. This UNESCO biosphere reserve is one of the most untouched areas in the world. It is the territory of wolves, black bears, cougars, otters, eagles, whales, dolphins, seals and salmon, among others. The protection of this rich nature and the preservation of its bio-cultural diversity is the primary concern of the non-profit organization Clayoquot Action. During our week in Tofino, Executive Director Dan Lewis will lead us on an exciting hike on Meares Island and, on one evening, he will introduce us to the work of Clayoquot Action. The registered NPO is currently running a campaign called 'Salmon People' to raise awareness to the importance of wild salmon for the ecology and economy of the area. Each participant in this yoga week will support the work of Clayoquot Action with a donation of CAD 20.- included in the retreat price. More information on the ‚Salmon People’ campaign can be found at www.salmonpeople.ca. For additional donations go to https://salmonpeople.ca/donate-now
