Yoga for Hormonal Balance - A Workshop with Salome Noah Caruso
In our current times, we are faced with physical and psychological influences that adversely affect our hormonal system, causing imbalances and provoking related negative symptoms. Not only do outer influences strongly affect us, but at the same time we are losing connection with our cycles, our internal processes, the knowledge of herbs and healing plants and simple energy and bodily exercises that support us in our life cycles.
This workshop is suitable for all women who would like to experience and understand their bodies on a deeper level. It can support women's fertility, ease the transition away from the birth control pill, help to regulate menstruation and menopausal symptoms, and stimulate thyroid function. It is designed for all women who would like to feel more at ease and in harmony with their femininity.
The sequences, visualizations and relaxation exercises we will learn and practice work directly on the endocrine system and our hormonal household, which is associated with, and responsible for, the related bodily processes and our emotional reactions. We will refine our observations in relation to our cycles and the hormonal processes affecting our bodies so that we can find more balance in our emotions and moods and connect in a new way to our feminine energy.
Her desire to connect with Nature and to handle the energy and wildness that was not appropriate for a sweet, blond girl on the exterior, challenged Salome Noah Caruso from very early on, and brought her to her inner and outer limits. She is forever grateful for all these paths, journeys and discoveries that her search for freedom - Moksha - continually leads her to.
Yoga as an essential element and practice on her “Experimental Journey” on this planet, has accompanied her since her teenage years in varied intensity and form - as an actor in Zurich, New York and in different theaters and life phases in Germany. The questioning and desire to find one’s way back to the true Self, to be in a “flow” state - whether on the mat, as well as in Life - to be constantly moving and feeling part of the Whole, to be in connection with ourselves and the cosmos.
Through Anusara Yoga in Berlin, as an Anusara Inspired Teacher in Basel and Zurich, Yoga became an inspiring, nourishing and unforesakeable part of Salome’s life. She has been living in Basel again since 2008, where she founded and leads the studio “Noa Yoga”, housed now as noa:yoga on the Münsterhügel.
Embodied Flow, created and developed by Tara Judelle and Scott Lyons, gives Salome a wealth of tools, impulses and inspiration; gives her the gift of amazement, discovery and going deep - and last but not least the love of the here and now as it is - the incredible fortune to be part of this wonderful life on the Planet Earth, and to share this fascination and love.

Saturday, April 18, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm: Part 1
Introduction to the endocrine system, its functions and relations in the body and emotions. Our female cycle and its phases in the context of our life cycles.
Taking inspiration from a journaling impulse, we will begin the practical part: Different techniques such as breath, sound, visualization and touch, allow us to seek out the endocrine glands, our female organs, and the energy within them. With this as a base and in this space, we utilize the breath, sound, visualization, asanas, mudras, mantra, movement sequences and meditation that stimulate the female endocrine system in its flow, clarifying, strengthening and harmonizing. We will connect elements based on Womb Yoga and sequences based on Dinah Rodriguez’ Hormone Yoga.
Sunday, April 19, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm: Part 2
We will begin with those breath, sound and movement sequences, that were introduced in Part 1 of this workshop. A solar, activating sequence will be followed by a lunar one, calming and balancing the body. We will round out our practice with a writing impulse and journaling exercise.
Following a short break, we will learn about some important essential oils that can support and enrich our (hormonal) balance and our entire being.
The sessions can be booked individually. However, those who have never practiced Hormone Yoga must attend the first part of the Workshop. Others who have practiced Hormone Yoga, or who have attended a Hormone Yoga workshop, can choose to book only the session on Sunday (second part of the workshop).
Some of the prescribed exercises should not be practiced during pregnancy, within 6 months after operations on the abdomen, myoma in the uterus, endometriosis, breast cancer and thyroid hyperfunction.
Salome teaches in German.
The costs are Fr. 160.- for the entire workshop; Fr. 90.- per session.
In 2020, Tanja Forcellini will be offering regular Hormone Yoga practice sessions for all participants of the workshop at AIRYOGA Studio Fabrikstrasse. Details and dates can be found here.
