Yoga & Mindfulness Retreat with Natalia Knuchel & Tanja Forcellini in Val Medel, Grisons
Enjoy a unique Yoga and Mindfulness week in the cozy Hotel Medelina, in the Surselva region, Grisons.
At this unique place of power - far away from everyday life - we will explore body and mind each morning in an hour of mindfulness exercises and meditation. In the subsequent Yoga class, we will work to synchronize breath and movement towards a powerful dynamic flow, playing with our physical potential and merging the mind, body and heart into an energetic state of balance and freedom. After class we will enjoy a rich vegetarian brunch.
During the day there is plenty of time and opportunities for walks, for a refreshing bath in the creek or to enjoy a few quiet hours on the hotel terrace with its breathtaking view. In the evening we will practice breathing exercises and dive into a gentle asana practice. We will surrender ourselves to the dissolving quality of restorative postures and taste the permeability of body and mind. An extended final relaxation will give the entire system time to absorb and feel the effects of the practice.
In addition to daily Yoga and Meditation practice, the schedule of this week offers plenty of time to explore the magnificent mountain area, to enjoy the magic of nature or simply to relax the body and mind, prioritizing many aspects of self-care.
This Yoga and Mindfulness week is suitable for beginners as well as experienced Yogis who are looking to refine and expand their practice. It is geared for anyone who wishes to benefit from the profound effects of a daily Yoga and Meditation practice - including breathing and mindfulness exercises - which can be easily integrated into daily life. All this will be combined with a healthy vegetarian diet and lots of time for rest and self-care.
All classes will be taught in German, alternating between Natalia (Yoga classes) and Tanja (Meditation, Mindfulness, and Breathwork). Both teachers are fluent in English and German, for questions or exchange outside of class times.
This Yoga & Mindfulness Retreat will be offered from Sunday, October 9, to Friday, October 14, 2022 at the Hotel Medelina in the Val Medel, Grisons.
Natalia Knuchel completed her Theatre and Dance education in Zurich after her Primary school teacher education. She then moved to Amsterdam to deepen her studies in contemporary dance at the SNDO (School for New Dance Development), consequently performing in dance theater productions in Germany and Switzerland.
Throughout her journey as a professional dancer, Natalia has been influenced and inspired by Yoga Asanas, Body Mind Centering, Contact Improvisation and Thai Chi. Her desire to share the gift of Yoga with others led her to attend the Teacher Training at AIRYOGA with Stephen Thomas in 2013. Within the whole spectrum of dance, meditation and yoga, Natalia has been particularly influenced by David Zambrano, Frey Faust, Simone Aughterlony, Denise Lampart, Ivan Wolfe, Doug Keller, Anya Porter, Manuela Peverelli and Stephen Thomas. Currently, Natalia is continuing her education in anatomy with Tiffany Cruikshank of Yoga International.
Natalia’s classes are dynamic and powerful. She emphasizes precise alignment and a steady connection to the breath. Natalia offers verbal and hands-on adjustments to support her students in a gentle manner. Her classes help students find balance on and off the mat and integrate it in their daily lives.

Tanja Forcellini discovered Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga during one of her journeys to the Far East in 1999. Yoga has led her to find answers to the many questions she has encountered on her personal life journey - answers that lay hidden deep within herself. Tanja attended the Yoga Teacher Training in 2004 at Centered Yoga in Asia, where she received certification as a Yoga instructor recognized by the Yoga Alliance. After her pregnancy in 2008, she also attended the Perinatal Yoga Training at Birthlight UK. After that time, life guided her more and more towards silence, and silence moved her from Yoga to Meditation. The loving and conscious contact with, and careful perception of one's own body are the focus of Tanja's classes, as well as the connection of breath and movement. In addition, she completed the Hormone Balance Teacher Training with Salome Noah. Tanja regularly attends trainings on mindfulness meditation and resilience and is currently in training as an energetic practitioner with Andrea Stäger. Idyllic and close to nature, with breathtaking views of the mountains and valley, the Hotel Medelina is located in the village of Curaglia with 250 inhabitants, situated in the Val Medel, between Disentis and the Lukmanier Pass. The house was renovated in 2016 with great attention to detail and reopened in January 2017. The in-house restaurant, the café with a view of the valley, as well as the beautifully furnished library or the hotel terrace invite you to laze around and relax.
For our group, the kitchen staff of the Medelina will offer vegetarian food, if possible regional and seasonal. Much of what they serve is homemade and the staff can relay a history for many of the dishes served.
In addition to brunch and dinner, our group is offered a daily snack, either served at the hotel or taken along on a hike.

Up to 14 participants can be accommodated in double or single rooms, all with private shower and toilet. Each room is dedicated to a different nature theme, a local craft or a cultural characteristic of the Val Medel.
Daily Schedule (subject to modifications)
7:00 to 8:00 am: Meditation and Mindfulness practice
8:15 to 9:45 am: Dynamic Yoga
followed by Brunch until 11:00 am
4:45 to 6:45 pm: Breath work and Restorative Yoga
7:00 pm: Dinner
On Tuesday afternoon, October 11, 2022 there is no Yoga class, this afternoon is sutable for a longer hike, for a joint visit to the rope park, for a massage in Disentis or to offer body and soul breakk.

Travel / Check-in and Check-out
The Hotel Medelina is located in the mountain village of Curaglia, about 6 km after the village of Disentis. The house can be easily reached by public transport as well as by car. Outdoor parking spaces are available free of charge. Participants arriving by public transport will travel through one of the natural spectacles of the Alps, the Rhine Gorge.
Participants should aim to check in at Medelina on Sunday October 9, 2022, in between 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. We are unable to receive guests before that time, so please organize travel arrangements accordingly. There will be a meet & greet as well as our first Yoga class at 5:00 pm, followed by a group dinner.
On Friday, October 14, 2022 the departure is after brunch. The bus to Disentis leaves Curaglia at around 11:15 am. There is a direct connecting train through the Rhine Gorge to Chur.
Massages / Treatments / Energy work
In Disentis, a masseuse/therapist is available to the group, offering various massages and treatments. In addition, Tanja offers individual sessions in energy work during this retreat. These extra offers are not included in the price and are paid directly on site.

A non-refundable/non-transferable deposit of CHF 500.- per person is required.
The remainder is due on September 1, 2022. Cancellations after September 1, 2022 won’t be refunded.
If one/both teachers is/are unable to lead the retreat due to unforeseen circumstances, we reserve the right to replace the teacher/s with equivalent one(s).

Insurance is your own responsibility. We strongly recommend a travel insurance including coverage of cancellation costs and travel incidents.
AIRYOGA/yogatanja and the teachers shall not be held liable for any damage to, or loss of, property or injury to persons. The participant waives any claim against the facilitator/the teacher for any such loss, damage, injury, or death.
