Ashtanga Yoga Workshop with Chiara Castellan
“Again, and just like in real life, it is all about practice, practice, practice…
There is no master. There is no perfection. There is only practice.”
The Second Series of the Ashtanga Yoga system is called Nadi Shodana. This term also refers to a Pranayama technique.
Nadi Shodana means purification of the energy channels that balance and prepare the body to deepen the practice.
In this workshop, we will explore the connection of Prana – also known as vital life energy – with the cleansing and strengthening of the nervous system through asanas and pranayama.
This afternoon gives you the opportunity to delve deeper into the practice and philosophy of the Ashtanga Yoga method in an open and relaxed manner. It makes the challenging postures of the Second Series accessible to all practitioners. Whether you are already practicing Ashtanga Yoga or not, this is the opportunity to take your practice to the next level.

The asanas of the Second Series of the Ashtanga Yoga system combine deep back-bending, twisting, hip-opening and balancing postures and are designed to strengthen our entire body and nervous system.
We will explore some of these poses in detail and look at the principles of opening the heart while keeping a strong foundation in back bending. Different techniques to open the hips and to get our leg behind our head will be introduced while still protecting the knees.
We will also learn how to balance on our forearms.
We will approach these postures with intelligence, playfulness and awareness of the physical and energetic alignment principals.
The inspired beginner will discover easy, fun and approachable techniques to some of Ashtanga yoga’s most challenging postures – while senior practitioners will find new techniques to bring more strength, grace and posture-awareness to their practice.
