Guided by the Heart: A Workshop with Michael Hamilton & Sabine Glück
Clarifying the meaning of life is essential and lack of it often lies behind emotional crisis. To live our life fully we need to connect to our own hearts and feel what it yearns for. That way, we are guided in shaping our life intentionally by aligning our heart wishes with how we engage with the world. As we experience the opening of our hearts, we unleash the courage to move towards the manifestation of our vision.
In all session asana and breathwork is used to refine our perception and receptivity. From there we connect with mantras, visualizations and guided contemplations to the songs of our hearts. Exercises from both eastern and western traditions guide us on this journey.
This weekend is open to Yogis with at least 2 years of practice. It can be booked as an entire program or each day individually.
Michael Hamilton and Sabine Glück will offer this workshop from Friday, May 5, through Sunday, May 7, 2023 at AIRYOGA, Fabrikstrasse 10 in 8005 Zürich.
Book online hereGrowing up in apartheid South Africa led Michael to an early interest in the topic of individual and collective hardship and awakened within him the yearning to address and confront the challenges it brings. In his youth it spurned him on to political activism and rebellion, sublimated through studies in art and literature, which additionally offered helpful glimpses into the human condition. The discovery of Buddhism in his twenties brought about dramatic life changes resulting in his departure from the west to the east and long years of studies in yoga and Buddhism in Asia. After discovering satipatthana meditation with its direct application of mindfulness to progressive stages of development, he started studies in short- and long-term retreat formats with Sayday U Vivekananda.
Currently Michael is undergoing a 3-year course in essential psychology, which combines skillful methods developed in psychology with the Buddhism teachings on wisdom, in order to better facilitate development and healing in individuals and small groups. He is deeply grateful to all those that have helped and guided him on his path, particularly Daido Roshi for his acts of kindness, Vivekanada and Baddhamanika for their endless patience, Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor for their insights into approaching practice, Doug Keller for therapeutic body awareness and Wolfgang Erhard and Lama Lhündrup for awakening the Bodhisattva spirit within. Michael lives with his wife Sabine Glück in Ticino, Switzerland.

In this class we lay a foundation. A grounding asana practice with standing postures and forward bends prepares us to connect with our inherent qualities of stability and gratitude. Visualization meditation and mantras connect us to our personal symbols of wisdom and compassion.
Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm:
On Saturday we start with an asana practice focusing on opening the front line with gentle back bending postures. In the second part we continue exploring heart opening practices through guided meditation and contemplation.
Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm:
In the last session of this weekend the tool of asana connects us to a sense of playful determination, experiencing more challenging arm balances and inversions. In the second part we narrow down what could be guiding principles to navigate our lives in a courageous and meaningful way.
