The Faces of Janus – Transitions and Transformations with Michael Hamilton

In these two in-depth workshops, we will find inspiration from Janus, the two headed god that oversees passages, beginning and endings, to look back at where we came from so that we can understand where we are going.

Both sessions include asana, pranayama, meditation, contemplation and chanting in order to relax our conceptual thinking and sensing a more intuitive truth.

All Yogis, who would like to spend the transition days on the mat are invited. The sessions can also be booked separately.

Session 1 – Tuesday, December 31, 2024

“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning, but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.”
Hai Borland

We end the year with gentle and restoring asana and grounding pranayama. Guided meditation and contemplation lead us into reflecting the passing year. We carefully open our hearts to embrace both the beauty and joy we cherished, as well as the challenges that made us grow. Vibration and sound let our atmospheric space of the heart expand, holding light and dark in infinite space.

Session 2 – Wednesday, January 1, 2025

“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
Mary Oliver

We start the new year with a playful and empowering asana practice and invigorating pranayama. The contemplative part of this practice leads us to dreaming our wild and precious life to shape our intentions for the coming year with clarity, courage and trust. Mantras melt with the vibration of our heart carrying us into the new year with ease.

Michael Hamilton is a meditation and yoga practitioner as well as a transpersonal therapist. The discovery of Buddhism in his twenties brought about dramatic life changes resulting in his departure from the west to the east and long years of studies in yoga and Buddhism in Asia. After discovering satipatthana meditation with its direct application of mindfulness to progressive stages of development, he started studies in short- and long-term retreat formats with Sayday U Vivekananda.

His approach combines modern methods developed in psychology with the skillful means developed in ancient Buddhist teachings on wisdom, in order to better facilitate development and healing in individuals and small groups.

He is deeply grateful to all those that have helped and guided him on his path, particularly Daido Roshi for his acts of kindness, Vivekanada and Baddhamanika for their endless patience, Richard Freeman and Mary Taylor for their insights into approaching practice, Doug Keller for therapeutic body awareness and Wolfgang Erhard and Lama Lhündrup for awakening the Bodhisattva spirit within.

Michael lives with his wife Sabine Glück in Ticino, Switzerland.
